Joint press release from a consortium of 8 oil companies and the government of Iran about how the oil industry will operate there and how/whether BP will be compensated for loss in revenue due to changes to its oil contract with the country. What’s quite interesting to note here is that the release appears to have been drafted (or at least edited) by Earl Newsom, PR advisor for Standard Oil of New Jersey, who was deeply involved in the company’s negotiations with various foreign governments, an activity people don’t often associate with PR, but Newsom was doing quite a lot of it throughout the 1940s and 1950s.
